July Case

A five-year-old HIV-infected girl comes into your office for a routine visit. Her mother reports that she has experienced recurrent nosebleeds over the past three months which have been increasing in frequency. She has occasionally noted a red, punctate rash on her daughter’s extremities. You order a complete blood count and a peripheral smear.

What is your diagnosis?
